Node.js is platform which provides the complete solution for server-side applications, such as web platforms ASP.NET, Php etc. So, before going to start Hands-On Node.js, let's first install and configure it.
Here, I am using windows OS to install and configure it. First download the
latest release of Node.js from www.nodejs.org for windows OS.
Node.js can run on Windows, Linux, and Mac. It provides 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. To install Node.js on
Windows OS just download windows setup as follows.
When you will run node.js setup for windows, you will get the setup dialog as follows. Now just follow the installation instructions to install it on your machine.
Node.js Command Prompt
After Node.js successful installation an icon will be created on the
Windows menu. Now click this menu to open the Node.js console.
You can also launch
node.js command prompt by using run window. In run window type node and press enter, you will get the node.js command prompt as follows.
