Microsoft Azure Certification Exams: Role-based Paths

Microsoft announced new roles-based Azure certification path for Administrators, Developers, Solutions Architects, and DevOps engineers who are working with Microsoft Azure Cloud platform. These new certification paths have been introduced based on technical roles and working, rather than covering the broad range of Microsoft Azure features and services to each of them.

New Microsoft Azure Role-based Certifications

The new role-based certifications will help you to be aligned with your technical role and skills. Earn a role-based Azure certification and make a bright career in Microsoft Azure as a Developer, Administrator, Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

An Azure Administrator is responsible to implement and manage the major Azure services including network, security, Azure virtual machine, app services, and Azure Storage. To earn this certificate, you have to undergo the following certification exam:

1. Exam AZ-103: Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate

Once you will pass the above certification exam, then you will earn the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification.

Retired Azure Certifications (AZ-100 and AZ-101)

Initially, Microsoft announced two certification exams (AZ-100 and AZ-101) to earn Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification. But based upon the feedback, Microsoft has retired the exams (AZ-100 and AZ-101) and introduced only oneexam (AZ-103) to earn Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification.

Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert

An Azure DevOps Engineer is responsible to streamline delivery by optimizing the DevOps practices, and better collaboration with the Development team. To earn this certificate, you must know both Azure administration and Azure development areas. Also, you must be an expert in at least one of the area and you have to undergo the following certification exam:

Retired Azure Certifications Transitions

If you passed the above-mentioned exams, then you have to undergo the transitions exams before June 30, 2019. For moving from the old certification exams to the new role-based certification paths, the following transition exams are available:

1. 70-533 -> AZ-102: Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification Transition

2. 70-532 -> AZ-202: Microsoft Azure Developer Certification Transition
